‘I'd had psoriasis for 41 years - then got 80 per cent clear in six weeks without steroids’

Andy Taylor, 53, from Huntingdon, Cambs.

I first developed psoriasis when I was 12. I was quite unhappy and anxious as a child and so I assume stress  brought it on. It was just on my arms at first but it was visible and it led to a lot of bullying and stuff, which isn’t unusual.

Over time, it got worse and by the time I was 30 my body was 80 per cent covered in plaques and flaky areas. When I’d have bad flare-ups I sometimes found myself becoming depressed because of the way people would look at me. I wore white shirts for work and people would always be telling me I was bleeding. It was awful.

I was prescribed pretty much everything. All the usual steroid creams, which I didn’t like using because they can be very damaging to your skin in the long run. It’s crazy that we’re expected to use steroids when we don’t want to and most doctors would rather not prescribe them. None of them really worked for me in more than 40 years.

And then I was put on immuno-suppressants like Methotrexate. I was on that for several years until it caused liver damage. I still have to go to the hospital every three months so my liver cells can be checked.

You find you’ll try anything in the hope it might help. Recently, I was recommended a ‘natural’ herbal treatment from China and was surprised that it seemed to be working. But then I read a report that tests on it had found it contained massive levels of steroids. This isn’t unusual. There are all sorts of bogus treatments out there.

Then I heard about Soratinex through Facebook and read some good things about it so I thought I’d give it a go. I was particularly attracted by the fact that it doesn’t contain steroids.

It comes as a three-part treatment – a gel, cream and oil – and it’s very easy to use. The first time I put them on, I immediately felt relief and I noticed that the gel did a great job in removing my plaques and flaky skin. The manufacturer says it can take up to six weeks to be effective, but I noticed a huge improvement in days. I simply couldn’t believe it. That was six weeks ago and now the plaques on my legs have gone and I’m left with smooth, red skin that is improving all the time.

I’d say my symptoms have reduced by about 80 per cent and my quality of life has improved by a similar amount. The treatment is simply fantastic. It really worked for me so I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone with plaque psoriasis.
